The Thursday morning arraignment court hearing for Travonce Backie, the man accused of brutally beating an 85-year-old man, has been delayed due to quarantine.

Backie is charged with attempted murder and felonious assault. Additional charges of Leaving the Scene, Driving Under Suspension and Duty to yield were also filed against the suspect.

Backie allegedly pulled out in front of 85-year-old Ralph White and the two vehicles collided. He then exited his vehicle, and hit White in the face and head several times, leaving him hospitalized, according to the family of White.

Backie will appear in court on Tuesday, March 9. He is being held on $500,000 bond.
