A suspect is in custody after a vehicle attempted to ram into a barrier, leaving two Capitol police officers and the suspect injured, according to a statement released by the Capitol police.

The Capitol was placed in lockdown Friday afternoon after the alleged attack, but due to spring recess, lawmakers were not in the building at the time of the accident.

NBC News is reporting that the driver of the vehicle jumped out of the car with a knife and was then shot by Capitol police.

This incident comes nearly three months after the January 6 attack of the complex to argue the electoral vote count before Congress joined in a joint session.
