An Akron man says his typical drone flight took an unexpected turn Monday evening when bullets began to fly into the sky.

Zac Riter says he was flying his drone around rural Carroll County when a man aimed a gun up in the air and began firing shots at his aerial camera.

Riter said he was flying over Lake Mohawk to capture images and was asked to get photos of a family members home. He said when the shots began to fly, he immediately began to land the drone.

Riter claims the gunman approached him and his friend before assaulting the friend.

He filed a report with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and will soon speak to the FAA, according to local media reports.
