Dover’s End of Summer Celebration will include a celebration of the city’s Olympic pride – recent gold medalist swimmer Hunter Armstrong.

Armstrong will be honored on Sunday, Sept. 5 via a fire and police escort from Dover’s downtown square to Dover City Park. Following a brief presentation, Armstrong will be available for pictures and autographs by Dover High School’s swimming dunk tank.

Armstrong was part of the qualifying U.S. men’s swim team in the men’s 4×100-meter relay at the recent Summer Olympics in Tokyo. After the Americans won the final, Armstrong qualified to receive a gold medal along with preliminary teammates Andrew Wilson, Tom Shields, and Blake Pieroni.

Armstrong, a 2019 graduate of Dover High School, also competed individually in the men’s 100-meter backstroke preliminaries, finishing ninth in the semifinal heat.
