A man was arrested by Stark County Sheriff Deputies Tuesday afternoon after reports of shots fired.

Deputies were dispatched to the 7900 block of Woodrush Drive in Plain Township to reference to shots fired. When they arrived, deputies determined 44-year-old Matthew Lucas had discharged an assault rifle on the property. They believe he fired between 20-30 rounds into the ground. One person was inside the home at the time of the shooting. No injuries were reported.

“Deputies responded effectively and efficiently and were able to take the suspect into custody without incident,” explained Sheriff George T. Maier.

Lucas was arrested and charged with one count of having weapons under disability (F3), one count of using weapons while intoxicated (M1), one count of inducing panic (M1), and one count of discharge of a firearm on or near a prohibited area (M4).
