CANTON, Ohio (JMN Sports) – Dover High School swimmer Lucas Lane finished second in the Division II Boys 200-meter Freestyle at the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Swimming & Diving Championships Friday night at the C.T. Branin Natatorium.
Lane’s Friday time of 1:38.32 – which was better than his first-place preliminary time of 1:39.32 – fell behind only Napoleon senior Kyle Hudson, who posted a 1:37.53.
Lane, a junior, also finished second in the Boys 500m Freestyle with a time of 4:32.30, besting his preliminary mark of 4:38.30.
Oakwood swimmer Sam Campbell won the title with a 4:26.97 – 5.3 seconds ahead of Lane.
Dover’s boys’ team finished 14th in the 400m Freestyle Relay. Senior Blaze Burris, juniors Kasey Ruegsegger, Cameron Marshall, and Lane posted a time of 3:19.89. The Crimson Tornadoes finished 15th in the preliminaries with a 3:19.76.
River View’s boys’ team – consisting of senior Zachariah Phillips, senior Cole Tatro, junior Jamal Watts, and senior Coen Bible – finished 16th in the Boys 200m Relay finals with a 1:31.18.
