As of Thursday, April 27, the ramp from State Route 43/Market Ave. northbound to U.S. 62 eastbound will be closed for a project that aims to “improve safety and reduce crashes.”

The project also includes the reduction of movements to three U.S. 62 intersections, and the signalization of U.S. 62 an St. Elmo Ave. Most driveways along U.S. 62 will be removed and a new frontage road will be constructed.

During the project, U.S. 62 will be reduced to one lane in each direction, and the ramp from SR 43 north to U.S. 62 eastbound will be closed during a portion of the project. There will also be several side street closures north of U.S. 62.

The project is expected to cost $13.7 million and will be under construction until early winter of 2023.

The detour will be State Route 43/Market Ave. to 55th St. to Harmont Ave. to U.S. 62.
