The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash between a motorcycle and a car that left a man seriously injured.

The accident happened Monday at 6 p.m. on State Route 43 near 19th St SE in Canton Township.

In a press release, OSHP said David Coffey, 64, of Canton, was driving a 2007 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic northbound on State Route 43. Officials say Coffey’s motorcycle traveled left of center, striking a black 2006 Jaguar S-Type vehicle driven by Kelly Blackwelder, age 45, from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was traveling southbound on State Route 43.

Coffey was ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest in the roadway. He was transported to Aultman Hospital by Canton Township EMS with serious injuries – he is listed in critical condition.

Coffey was not wearing a helmet and alcohol use by him is expected to contributed to the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
