A 15-year-old juvenile is home safely after getting himself stuck on a cell tower at 4105 Cleveland Ave S for over five hours.

According to Canton Township Fire Public Information Officer Scott Johnson, the teenager free climbed the cell tower and was unable to climb down. He called a parent who then contacted 911.

The Canton Township Fire Department was dispatched just before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning and remained on scene for nearly five hours. The department’s ladder truck was no tall enough to reach the teen, so they had to contact SBA Communications who then assembled a climbing crew.

The climbing crew arrived to the scene after a lengthy time and was able to reach the victim and get him to the ground safely. No medical attention was required.
