Investigators spent hours at a home in the Minerva area Monday morning after receiving a call about a dead man laying in the front yard of a home in the 6700 block of Bayard Rd.

“We received a call from someone who stopped here and found a deceased male in the front yard,” said Columbiana County Sheriff Brian McLaughlin.

The deceased male, who’s name has not been released, was taken by the Columbiana County Coroner’s Office.

The cause of death has not been determined, but the Sheriff noted they do not believe the man was shot.

When asked if foul play was suspected, Sheriff McLaughlin said that will be determined by the coroner’s office.

The Sheriff’s office first received the call at 10:47 Monday morning and remained on scene until approximately 1 p.m.

Assisting on the scene was the Sandy Creek-Joint Fire District and the Columbiana County Coroner’s Office.

The location of the incident on Bayard Rd was in West Township, just north of East Rochester and east of New Franklin.
