Police: 17-year-old shoots, kills father during altercation in Wooster

A Wooster man has died after being shot by his 17-year-old son, according to a press release from the Wooster Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to a home in the 1600 block of Gasche St for reports of a man with a gunshot just after 11 p.m. Tuesday night. When they arrived to the scene, aid was rendered to the victim immediately. The shooting victim was transported to Wooster Community Hospital by Wooster Fire/EMS.

Throughout the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the man was shot by his 17-year-old son after an apparent altercation with his father, police said. The teen was taken into custody.

The shooting victim was later transported to Akron General Hospital where he died, according to the Summit County Coroner.

The Wooster Police Department Police Department Detective Bureau is handling the investigation of the case.
