Five people, including an 8-year-old, were shot and killed in a shooting inside a home in Cleveland, Texas Friday evening.

Cleveland is less than an hour away from Houston, Texas.

Police were dispatched to the home on Walters Road around 11:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting. When they arrived to the house, four people were found dead inside the home. The child died at the hospital.

San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers said all five victims who died suffered gunshots to the head. Officials say the shooter used an AR-15-style rifle.

Three others were transported to the hospital for injuries – their conditions are unknown at this time. Two others were treated at the scene and released.

Officials believe the shooter fled the county.

“This is still a very fluid scene and an active investigation,” the sheriff’s office added.
