A Tuscarawas County OVI checkpoint resulted in a man being charged with his sixth OVI.

According to the New Philadelphia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Joe A. Kienzle, of Mineral City, was driving a vehicle when he entered a sobriety checkpoint Friday night.

Officials say Kienzle showed signs of impairment and was taken into the diversion area. He then completed a field sobriety test and was arrested for OVI. He submitted to a breath test as well, blowing a .237 – three times the legal limit.

In addition to the OVI charge, Kienzle was charged with an open container of alcohol and marijuana possession. He is scheduled to appear in New Philadelphia Municipal Court on July 13.
