The Summit County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of one of the department’s young deputies.
Jacob Nees died over the weekend in an off-duty vehicle accident, according to a post to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
Nees, a 2018 graduate of Mount Union, joined the Sheriff’s Office just two months ago.
Before joining the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, Nees worked as a parole officer. n his spare time, he played drums in a few local bands.
“Deputy Nees will be greatly missed by our Office,” the department wrote. “We extend our deepest condolences to the Nees family and to Jacob’s friends and loved ones.”
