Residents of Malvern and surrounding communities can rejoice with the news that the State Route 43 bridge in the Village near Daystar Auto is set to reopen next week.

JMN has learned that the bridge between Lee Road and Carrollton Street in Malvern will reopen by Wednesday, Oct. 11, according to Ohio Department of Transportation officials.

The roadway was closed for crews to complete a crucial bridge deck replacement project. The official detour was SR 171 to SR 43. But a lot of local traffic used the backroads of Malvern, including Porter St, to cut across.

While traffic picked up on Porter and other small back roads throughout Malvern, the village was also conducting their own street projects that forced another detour on top of the detour that was already underway.

The opening of the bridge in Malvern will be welcomed news for many.
