Law enforcement authorities are actively engaged in a widespread search for a suspect who led authorities on a high-speed chase after reportedly stealing a black car from Stark County.

The pursuit, which began in Uhrichsville, unfolded as a collaborative effort involving the Uhrichsville Police Department, New Philadelphia Police Department, the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Sheriff Orvis Campbell of Tuscarawas County provided details on the unfolding incident. The suspect, behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle, initiated the pursuit in Uhrichsville before additional units joined in the chase. The pursuit culminated in the abandonment of the stolen vehicle along an access road near Interstate 77 in the vicinity of Steele Hill Rd, New Philadelphia.

The recovered black car is currently under investigation, with authorities collecting video evidence to aid in the ongoing inquiry.

As of now, there is no indication of violence associated with the incident. However, law enforcement officials urge residents in the surrounding areas to exercise caution and take preventive measures. Residents are advised to lock their cars, garages, and homes, and to remain vigilant for any unusual activity. The suspect, evading capture, may seek alternative means to leave the area.

“We believe there to be one suspect at this time,” stated Sheriff Campbell.

Authorities are encouraging residents to immediately report any suspicious activity by dialing 911.
