On March 13, 2024, a School Resource Officer (SRO) at Perry High School successfully intercepted a student carrying a firearm on campus, ensuring the safety of students and staff. The swift action by law enforcement prevented any harm or disruptions.

The incident unfolded during routine duties when the SRO uncovered the student’s possession of the weapon. The officer promptly secured the firearm without incident or injuries. The student has been apprehended, and both school policies and legal measures will be enforced accordingly.

Authorities confirm there were no direct threats to individuals at the school.

Emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach, school officials underscored that firearms have no place within educational institutions. The protection and well-being of students and staff remain the top priority.
