In a purr-fectly unusual twist, the Canton Fire Department responded to a feline fiasco at 622 25th St NW on April 8 at 2:45 pm, just 30 minutes before the moon and sun aligned during the eclipse.

A kitchen fire sparked by a curious cat turning on a stove burner had crews on their toes. The female resident tried to douse the flames with a towel but had to call for reinforcements.

To their surprise, firefighters discovered not just one or two, but a whopping 37 cats inside the residence.

Some of the furry culprits needed a dose of oxygen after inhaling smoke, but thankfully, all were whisker-ed away from danger.

The fire, deemed accidental, left one firefighter with minor injuries while the resident emerged unscathed.
