A call about animal cruelty led to local police discovering nine dogs dead in a Stark County home.

According to Jackson Township Police Chief Mark Brink, his department received a complaint about animal cruelty at a property in the 6800 block of Lake O’ Springs Ave in the township.

A search warrant was obtained for the property, which Brink says to be vacant. Officers with the Jackson PD, along with the Stark County Humane Society, entered the property and recovered nine deceased dogs. The dogs were located both inside and outside of the property.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for 54-year-old Tom Stambolziovski who previously resident at the Lake O’ Springs Avenue home. He has been charged with eight counts of Prohibitions Concerning Companion Animals.
