Three dogs die in Waynesburg, Stark County house fire

Three dogs died Tuesday evening as the result of a house fire in Waynesburg.

Mohawk Valley Fire Chief Jim Marraccini tells JMN that crews were dispatched to a house in the 7000 block of Waynesburg Dr SE just before 8pm after a passerby reported the fire.

Mohawk Valley responders arrived on the scene within three minutes. Despite efforts to rescue the pets, three dogs did not survive. The fire was extinguished within 14 minutes.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined but is considered accidental and not suspicious.

While the incident caused minimal structural damage, substantial cleanup is necessary. No human injuries were reported, The home is deemed reparable. Assisting in the response were Canton Twp, Great Trail, Magnolia, Osnaburg Twp, and Quad Ambulance services.
