The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into a single vehicle fatal crash that took place on Friday, June 14 around 9:00pm on US 30 at milepost 12 in Perry Township, Stark County.

According to authorities, Dajanique A. Sanders, 27, of Canton, was driving a 2006 Ford Freestyle westbound on US 30 when the vehicle veered off the right side of the road, over corrected, and ultimately went off the left side of the road. The Ford then rolled multiple times, crossed the eastbound lanes of US 30, and eventually came to a stop on the southside of the highway after crossing over the guardrail.

Sanders sustained serious injuries and was rushed by Massillon Fire and EMS to Mercy Hospital for treatment. Stencil Archie, 35, of Akron, a front seat passenger in the Ford, did not survive the crash. He was transported by Perry Fire and EMS to Aultman Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. It was noted that Archie was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Two juveniles who were also passengers in the vehicle suffered injuries. One of the juveniles was taken by Canton Township Fire and EMS to Aultman Hospital for serious injuries and later airlifted to Akron Children’s Hospital. The second juvenile was transported by Perry Township Fire and EMS to Mercy Hospital for minor injuries and then transferred to Akron Children’s Hospital as a precautionary measure.

Authorities have indicated that alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Multiple agencies, including the Perry Township Police Department, Perry Township Fire and EMS, Plain Township Fire and EMS, Massillon Fire and EMS, Reed’s Towing, and the Stark County Coroner’s Office, collaborated with the Ohio State Highway Patrol at the crash site.
