7-year-old victim killed in Stark County shooting identified

The Stark County Coroner’s Office has identified the juvenile victim killed in a shooting in Plain Township early Friday morning.

A 7-year-old child is dead following a shooting early Friday at a Stark County motel. The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the incident, which occurred at the Knights Inn on 3950 Convenience Circle NW in Plain Township.

The shooting victim has been identified as Ka’Marion Dolch, 7, of Cuyahoga County resident. According to the Stark County Coroner’s Office, the victim was in Plain Township visiting.

Deputies were dispatched to the hotel around 1:00 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found the young Dolch with gunshot wounds and administered immediate first aid. The Plain Township Fire Department arrived shortly after and transported the child to a nearby hospital, where he died.

The Sheriff’s Office has identified William Brent Dolch, 37, as a suspect in the shooting. A warrant has been issued for Dolch on charges of weapons under disability. His last known address is Akron. He has not been arrested at this time. Dolch is the father of the Ka’Marion, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to officials, there were two adults and three children in the hotel room at the time of the shooting. The adult who called 911 was a female. The other two children were unharmed.

The Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that this incident does not involve a child finding a gun, emphasizing that it is an isolated event.
