An 11-year-old girl has died more than a week after being pulled from a house fire in Canton, according to Division Fire Chief

Harmony Fowler was critically injured in the blaze that broke out on July 12. The Canton Fire Department received a call at 7:47 p.m. from a passerby who reported flames emerging from a two-story home at 929 3rd St. NW in Canton.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy flames coming from the second-story windows. Crews managed to find Harmony from a bathroom on the second floor before transporting her to Akron Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

Despite the efforts of medical staff, Harmony never regained consciousness and was removed from life support on July 21. She passed away surrounded by her family.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
