Akron Police detectives are investigating the shooting death of a 24-year-old woman that occurred early Sunday morning. Officers responded to a report of a shooting at 14 Socrates Place at approximately 12:26 a.m. Upon arrival, they found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the torso. The woman was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Paige Calich. Initial reports indicated that the suspect(s) fled the scene following the shooting.
Detectives have been actively pursuing leads and tips from the community, police say. On Tuesday, they arrested 25-year-old Corvette Pope for her involvement in Calich’s death. Authorities have also issued a warrant for 19-year-old Denzel Pope on charges of aggravated murder. Denzel Pope is considered armed and dangerous, and the police urge the public to exercise caution if seen.
