In a coordinated operation Wednesday afternoon, the U.S. Marshals Service, in collaboration with the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF), arrested three individuals wanted for kidnapping and felonious assault. Jermaine Taylor, Cassandra Cheek, and Tyson Dean were taken into custody in separate locations in Canton.
The arrests stem from allegations that the trio held two victims captive in the basement of a residence on Clark Avenue SW from July 10 to July 12. During this period, the suspects are accused of inflicting serious physical injuries on the victims, which included beatings with a baseball bat and pistol-whipping with a firearm.
Tyson Dean was apprehended at an address near the 1800 block of Woodlawn Ave. NW, while Jermaine Taylor and Cassandra Cheek were arrested at a location near the 200 block of Millvale Ave. NE.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott praised the collaboration between the U.S. Marshals Service and the Canton Police Department, stating, “The strong partnership between the U.S. Marshals Service and the Canton Police Department has resulted in hundreds of arrests over the years. Taking these three violent fugitives off the street is another example of our strong partnership and our commitment to make the communities we serve a safer place to live.”
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not released further details on the victims or the circumstances surrounding their rescue.
