The New Philadelphia Post is investigating a one-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a 22-year-old woman early Tuesday morning on County Road 98, just south of Township Road 1096 in Tuscarawas County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Kindra Owens, 22, of Canton, was driving a 2019 Honda Civic northbound on County Road 98 when she veered off the right side of the road at approximately 4:32 a.m. The vehicle struck a fire hydrant and a tree before coming to a stop.

Owens was pronounced dead at the scene by Death Investigator Cathy Clarke from the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office. Authorities reported that Owens was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash. Preliminary investigations indicate that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the incident.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Wayne Township Fire Department and the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office. The crash remains under investigation.
