A man involved in a two-vehicle crash in Carroll County last week has died from his injuries, according to authorities.
James D. McClain, 59, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, succumbed to his injuries on Monday, October 14, after being hospitalized following the crash, which occurred on Tuesday, October 8. McClain had been flown to Aultman Hospital by Stat Med Evac due to the severity of his injuries.
The accident happened at approximately 2:08 p.m. on State Route 43, north of Carry Road, when McClain’s black 2014 Hyundai Sonata, traveling southbound, went left of center. McClain attempted to overcorrect, causing his vehicle to collide with a grey 2021 Ford F250 heading northbound.
The Ford was driven by Tyler A. Milhoan, 25, of East Liverpool, Ohio, who sustained minor injuries. His passenger, Eli S. Byler, 25, of Salineville, Ohio, was not injured.
Emergency responders, including the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Carrollton Fire Department, and Loudon Township Fire Department, arrived at the scene, along with the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The crash remains under investigation by the New Philadelphia Highway Patrol Post. All individuals involved were reported to have been wearing seat belts at the time of the incident.
