A fire broke out Sunday evening at Hey Neighbor Heating & Cooling, causing significant damage to the commercial building located at 1800 Wallace Ave NE. The Canton Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 7:18 p.m. after a neighbor reported seeing flames.

When fire crews arrived, heavy flames were visible through the roof on the north side of the one-story structure. Firefighters immediately launched a defensive attack, but within five minutes of arrival, part of the wall and the entire roof on the north side of the building collapsed.

During the firefighting efforts, several explosions occurred due to acetylene and oxygen tanks stored inside the facility. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries; one was able to continue working, while the other had to step aside.

Utility companies AEP and Dominion Gas, along with the Canton City Water Department, responded to secure the building’s utilities.

The Ertle family, owners of Hey Neighbor Heating & Cooling, want the public to know that they are still open from business as they move their work remote during this time. They can be reached at: 330-605-9052

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and more details will be released as they become available.
