Dover volleyball sweeps New Philadelphia, advances to district final

The Dover volleyball team continued its dominant season, securing a 3-0 victory over New Philadelphia in the district semifinal Monday night. The Tornadoes, now 21-3 on the season, defeated their rivals for the third time this year with set scores of 25-20, 25-23, and 25-18.

Quincey Werntz orchestrated the offense with 33 assists, while also adding three blocks and nine digs. Jenna Molk led the attack with 13 kills, contributing six blocks and one dig. Caroline Hanner posted eight kills, five blocks, and four digs, while Hailey Kuecher recorded six kills, four blocks, and one dig.

Mycah Freeman chipped in six kills and two digs, and Alli Hupp added five kills, one block, and four digs. Defensively, Isabelle Stoldt and Lily Galbraith held the backcourt with six and four digs, respectively. Chera Schmidt tallied 13 digs, and Madeline Fockler rounded out the effort with 15 digs.

Dover advances to the district final on Saturday at 3 p.m., where they will face the winner of the Sheridan-Marietta matchup.
