Buckeye Career Center was briefly placed on a soft lockdown Tuesday morning after a student received an electronic threat from a family member, school officials said.

Out of an abundance of caution, all students, staff, and visitors from Buckeye Career Center, Tusky Valley, Tuscarawas Central Catholic, and Carrollton were secured, according to a statement from the school.

The New Philadelphia Police Department, Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, and Stark County Sheriff’s Office collaborated to investigate the situation, which ultimately led to the arrest of the individual suspected of issuing the threat.

At no time were any students, staff, or visitors in immediate danger, officials said. The lockdown was lifted once the suspect was detained.
