A law enforcement operation conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service has prompted the closure of Interstate 77 in both directions and a portion of Sunset Strip N.W. in Jackson Township, according to a press release from the Jackson Police Department.

The operation began at approximately 11 a.m. Monday in the 6800 block of Sunset Strip N.W. Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area, specifically Sunset Strip N.W. between Eagle Circle N.W. to the north, Strip Avenue N.W. to the west, and Portage Street N.W. to the south.

There is no word yet on the nature of the operation or when the closures are expected to end.

Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
