Minerva Fire responds to Thanksgiving morning fire that displaced family of three

A fire early Thanksgiving morning left a family of three without a home, officials said.

The Sandy Creek Joint-Minerva Fire Department was dispatched at 6:01 a.m. Thursday to the 22000 block of State Route 172, just inside the Columbiana County line, for a structure fire.

According to Fire Chief Aaron Stoller, the mobile home was occupied at the time of the fire, but no injuries were reported. The blaze appears to have been accidental in nature, Stoller said, though the trailer is now uninhabitable.

The Red Cross has been called to assist the displaced family.

Mutual aid was provided by the Homeworth Fire Department, North Georgetown Fire Department, and the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department.

An investigation into the exact cause of the fire is ongoing.
