The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Malvern man Friday evening.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:37 p.m. on Dec. 13 along State Route 172 near milepost 30 in Paris Township, Stark County.

Preliminary findings indicate that Brandon R. Evans, 42, was driving a silver 2016 Chevy Silverado eastbound on State Route 172 when the vehicle veered off the right side of the road. The truck struck a traffic sign and a culvert before overturning and hitting several trees. The vehicle came to a rest in the wooded area.

Evans was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said alcohol might have been a factor in the incident, but the crash remains under investigation.

Minerva Fire & EMS, the Sandy Creek Joint Fire District, the Stark County Coroner’s Office, and Keith’s Towing assisted at the scene.
