An explosion at a residence on Swanhurst Circle NE in North Canton caused damage to a home’s chimney and one room on Monday afternoon, but no injuries were reported, authorities said.

The North Canton Fire Department was dispatched to 1808 Swanhurst Circle NE at 1:40 p.m. following reports of an explosion. Upon arrival, fire crews found no active fire or smoke but noted structural damage to the exterior chimney and interior wall of the home, according to Fire Chief Drew Cramer.

Crews inspected the property and determined that the damage was confined to one room. Firefighters remained on the scene for more than two hours, leaving at 3:59 p.m.

The homeowners were not present during the incident, and no injuries were reported among civilians or first responders. The cause of the explosion is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Fire and Explosion Investigation Bureau, though officials do not believe it to be criminal in nature.

Further updates are expected as the investigation continues.
