A 28-year-old Newcomerstown man was injured late Thursday night after a high-speed pursuit ended in a rollover crash, according to Detective Captain Adam Fisher of the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident began around 10:30 p.m. when a deputy clocked Keelan Harris allegedly driving 67 mph in a 35-mph zone on West High Avenue near Bluebell Drive on the west side of New Philadelphia.
The pursuit continued onto Stonecreek Road, where speeds reportedly exceeded 110 mph. The chase ended when Harris lost control of his vehicle, which rolled multiple times. Authorities said Harris fled the scene on foot but was apprehended a short time later on Interstate 77.
Harris was transported to a Canton hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Following his release, he was booked into the Tuscarawas County Jail.
Harris faces charges including reckless operation and failure to comply with the order of a police officer, Fisher said.
The case remains under investigation.
