A 34-year-old North Canton woman was killed Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at Portage Street NW and Lake Cable Avenue NW, according to authorities.

The Jackson Township Fire Department responded to the crash at approximately 1:08 p.m. A sedan, driven by Angel Burlingame, collided with an eastbound pickup truck. Witnesses told investigators that Burlingame’s vehicle went left of center on Portage Street, resulting in the collision.

Bystanders reportedly pulled Burlingame from her vehicle after noticing a small fire in the engine compartment. They initiated CPR before first responders arrived on the scene. Burlingame was transported in critical condition to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 1:36 p.m, according to Stark County Coroner Chief Investigator Harry Campbell

Two occupants of the pickup truck, a 47-year-old man and a 13-year-old girl, were also transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by Jackson Township police.
