A 16-year-old boy has died after falling through the ice on a pond Wednesday morning in the 17000 block of Fulton Road, authorities confirmed.
Lamar Good, 16, was found underwater after falling through the ice while helping his family prepare a pond for ice skating, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner and a report from News 5 Cleveland. Good and his family were clearing snow off the pond on their property when relatives briefly walked away. It’s estimated he was underwater for 30 to 40 minutes before being found by rescue crews.
The North Lawrence Fire Department was dispatched to the scene around 10:41 a.m. Multiple agencies, including the Kidron Fire Department, Brewster Fire Department, Wooster Township Fire Dive Team, Summit County Dive Team, and Marshallville Fire Department, assisted in the rescue effort.
The Wooster Township Fire Dive Team located Good and pulled him from the water. Emergency crews performed CPR at the scene before transporting him to Aultman Orrville Hospital via Brewster Fire. Good was then transferred to Akron Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before 2 p.m., the medical examiner reported.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Lamar Good during this heartbreaking time,” said Public Information Officer Brandon Johnston.
