Authorities have identified the two people who died in a fatal shooting at an Alliance apartment complex Thursday morning.

Stark County Coroner Investigator Tammy Wilkes confirmed the victim as Stacy Pride, 56, and the suspect as Mason French, 63, both of Alliance.

Police responded to a 911 call reporting gunfire at the apartment complex at 350 S. Arch Ave. around 7:40 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found Pride had already been shot. Officials say French shot and killed her before officers arrived. During the encounter with police, French was shot by officers, according to Sgt. Christopher McCord.

Both French and Pride were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is leading the inquiry into the incident.

In accordance with department policy, the four officers present at the scene have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

The circumstances leading up to the incident remain under investigation.
