Firefighters rescued an elderly man from his SUV after it entered the West Branch of the Nimishillen Creek near 900 Stadium Park Drive NW on Wednesday morning, just east of the Mercy parking lot.
The Canton Fire Department was dispatched at 11:36 a.m. to the scene, where the vehicle was found in knee-deep water and not fully submerged. Fire crews safely extricated the man from the vehicle without incident.
It remains unclear whether the man experienced a medical episode or if the incident resulted from an accident. He was transported to Aultman Hospital for evaluation.
