Firefighters battled a fully involved house fire Wednesday on the 3800 block of Amherst Avenue in Stark County, rescuing two dogs and ensuring nearby homes were protected.
Multiple 911 callers reported flames visible from the windows, prompting a swift response from local fire departments. Crews from the Jackson Township Fire Department, with mutual aid from the City of Green, Canal Fulton, and Massillon fire departments, launched an offensive operation to search for occupants.
Two adults and two children who lived in the home were accounted for, and no injuries were reported. The residence was declared a total loss.
Operational efforts shifted to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes after it was determined all individuals and responders were safe.
Ohio Edison crews were called to cut power to the area to ensure safety during the response. Additional support was provided by the State Fire Marshal’s office, Jackson Township Police and Highway Departments, and the American Red Cross, which is assisting the displaced family.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
