A 38-year-old Canton man wanted in connection with the October shooting death of an Akron woman has been apprehended. Tamarcus Q. Harris was taken into custody Thursday night in the 600 block of Hyke Court SE in Canton by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, led by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Harris was wanted by Akron police on charges of aggravated murder and felonious assault in the October 27 death of Marla Carter, 44, who was found fatally shot in the 300 block of South Street in Akron. In addition, he was being sought for suspected violations of his federal supervised release.
“After a lengthy investigation by the Akron Police Department, it was determined that Tamarcus Harris was involved in this fatal incident,” the U.S. Marshals said in a press release.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott praised the cooperation between agencies. “The Akron Police Department continues to be one of our strongest partners in Summit County, and we will continue to assist them in taking violent fugitives off the street,” Elliott said.
Harris is being held in the Summit County Jail on a $2 million bond, according to Akron Municipal Court records.
