A 41-year-old woman has been arrested on aggravated arson charges following a residential fire at 719 19th St NE on Thursday night.

The Canton Fire Department was dispatched at 9:29 p.m. after reports of flames on the first floor of the two-story wood-frame home, with possible victims on the second floor. Upon arrival at 9:34 p.m., firefighters found light smoke in the area. Two adults and three children had already evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported.

The fire originated in a first-floor closet, extending into the ceiling and the front porch. Fire crews quickly extinguished the blaze. Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set. Franchessai Winston-Johnson, 41, was arrested on aggravated arson charges.

The estimated damage is $25,000 to the structure and $2,000 to the contents. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
