Authorities are investigating after a body was discovered Friday morning off the side of a roadway in Carroll County.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said it was notified at 9:54 a.m. on Feb. 7 by highway workers who found the body wrapped in a tarp.

Deputies responded to the scene along with Carroll County Coroner Mandal Haas, Carroll County Prosecutor Steven Barnett, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) agents, and members of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said the victim has not yet been identified but is believed to be a white male. The body has distinct tattoos on both arms.

The remains have been transported to the Cuyahoga County Coroner’s Office for identification and to determine the cause of death.

Authorities clarified that the body is not that of Travis Below, a missing person previously reported in the area.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
