A weekend fire that damaged a home in Alliance has been ruled arson, and state investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying those responsible.

The Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal (SFM) said the fire broke out just before 8 p.m. on Feb. 9 at a house in the 700 block of Pike Street. A passerby reported the blaze, according to officials.

No one was inside the home at the time, and no injuries were reported.

Following an investigation, officials with SFM’s Fire and Explosion Investigations Bureau determined the fire was intentionally set. The Blue Ribbon Arson Committee is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Anyone with information is urged to call SFM’s tip line at 800-589-2728. Callers can remain anonymous, and all tips will be investigated.
