A New Jersey man was killed early Wednesday morning in a one-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 30 in Columbiana County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers from the Lisbon Post said the crash happened around 4:42 a.m. near mile post 6 in West Township.

Investigators said a 2024 International semi-truck, driven by 59-year-old Robert J. Walters of Manchester, New Jersey, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 30 when it went off the right side of the road while negotiating a curve. The truck traveled down a ditch embankment and overturned onto its roof.

Walters was pronounced dead at the scene.

Responding agencies included the Ohio Department of Transportation, the Columbiana County Coroner’s Office, the Hanover Township Fire Department and EMS, and the Minerva Fire Department and EMS.

As of Wednesday morning, one lane on U.S. 30 has reopened at the crash site. The incident remains under investigation.
