The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle motorcycle crash that left a Louisville man seriously injured Saturday afternoon in Tuscarawas County.
According to troopers from the New Philadelphia Post, the crash occurred at approximately 3:33 p.m. on County Road 86 (Tabor Ridge Road), just north of County Road 84 (New England Road).
Authorities said a green 1997 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic Electra Glide, operated by David Metzger, 66, was traveling northeast on County Road 86 when it failed to negotiate a curve, went left of center, off the left side of the road, and overturned.
Metzger was transported by Smith Ambulance to Union Hospital before being flown by Cleveland Clinic Critical Care Transport to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, Fairfield Township Fire Department, Smith Ambulance, and Greg’s Towing assisted at the scene.
Alcohol is not suspected as a factor, and the crash remains under investigation.
