All Stark Library locations were closed Wednesday following a series of threats earlier in the week that prompted evacuations and early closures at the downtown Canton branch.
The library system announced the closure in a statement Wednesday morning, citing continued safety concerns after incidents on both Monday and Tuesday.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this process and look forward to re-opening all locations safely on Thursday, April 10,” the statement read.
Canton police were called to the Main Library on Market Avenue N on Monday after receiving a report of a possible armed individual inside. Officers evacuated the building and conducted a thorough search but found no threat.
Despite reopening Tuesday morning, all branches were again closed later that day after police received additional threats. Those, too, were investigated and determined to be unfounded, according to Canton Police Capt. John Bosley.
Library officials said the closures were made out of an abundance of caution while police continued their investigation. Normal operations are expected to resume Thursday.
