Tuscarawas County man charged with his ninth OVI following traffic stop

A Newcomerstown man with a history of impaired driving has been charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence, marking his ninth such offense, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers say 60-year-old Robert D. Triplett was stopped at 8:21 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, while driving a 2005 Dodge Ram westbound on U.S. Route 36 near milepost 2 in Oxford Township, Tuscarawas County. He was pulled over for failing to display headlights.

Triplett was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving under suspension, and failure to display headlights. The charges were filed in Tuscarawas County Southern District Court.
