Dukes win opening match of NE District tournament in three sets

The Marlington Lady Dukes volleyball team is moving on in the Northeast 1 district tournament with a 3-0 win over Youngstown East.

Marlington won the opening round of the tournament with ease, dominating the three sets: 25-4, 25-6 and 25-5.

Layne Graffice finished as the top hitter for Marlington with nine kills, followed by Jill Fellers with seven.

Janelle Swisher recorded 16 assists and six aces for Marlington. Madison Wade posted 14 points on serves for the winning Dukes.

Marlington (19-3) will resume action Saturday, Oct. 23 against Gates Mills Hawken Upper School.
