It felt like a home match for the #5 Marlington Lady Dukes Wednesday evening as they faced #4 Chagrin Falls Kenston at the neutral site of Alliance High School – just a few miles away from Marlington’s high school.
The Lady Dukes battled back in the first set of the district semi-final match, trailing 11-5 at one point in the set. They clawed their way back into the set, even taking a lead once, but they lost 25-23 – their first set lost in the district tournament so far.
That was the only set Marlington lost on the night, winning the match 3-1. Marlington won the next three sets 26-24, 25-13 and 25-15.
With the win, Marlington advances to the district finals where they will play #3 Mentor Lake Catholic at Alliance High School with a scheduled start time of 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.
